Park Rapids Classic Chorale Holiday Concerts

The Park Rapids Classic Chorale will present Colors of Winter Holiday Concerts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 5 and 3 p.m. Sunday, December 7 at Calvary Lutheran Church. All are welcome to attend. A free will offering will be accepted.

Giiwedinong Craft Market

Join the Giiwedinong Museum and the Armory Arts and Events Center to shop for the holidays from local Indigenous artisans. The craft market will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, December 6. While you’re at the Armory, experience the gallery’s latest Indigenous art installment before it's gone.

Wood Ornaments Class

Unwind and let your creativity flow as you craft one-of-a-kind wood ornaments. They can be simple, rustic pieces or intricately designed and personalized items, offering a warm, natural touch to holiday decor. Participants will make 6-8 ornaments during class time with Jamie Jokela. Bring a small bottle of wood glue and a handheld printer. The class will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 9. "A Christmas Carol"

Reserve your seats to get into the holiday spirit with beautiful music and the unforgettable story of "A Christmas Carol" at shows at 7 p.m. Friday, December 12, 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday, December 13 and 1 p.m. Sunday, December 14 at Long Lake Theater. Ebenezer Scrooge declines Christmas dinner with the family, opting to be alone on this frosty winter night. His heart being as cold as his home, is challenged to warm up as the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future take him on a musical journey of his own life. Knit-Flicks at Park Theater

The third in a Knit-Flicks series at Park Theater will be "The Holiday" at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 27 and work on your knitting, crocheting, needlepoint or other non-messy craft projects (no glue or glitter) in a relaxed theater setting. New Year’s Eve at Park Theater - When Harry Met Sally

Park Theater is hosting the fourth annual New Year’s Eve screening of “When Harry Met Sally” (1989). Ring in the New Year at the exact same time that Sally & Harry do at their New Year’s Eve part in the film. The movie will start at exactly 10:30 p.m. and 28 seconds to ensure the on-screen countdown to the New Year syncs with ours in local time.

Bookbinding Basics Workshop

Dawn Rossbach will lead a workshop on Bookbinding Basics from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 10 at the Armory Arts & Events Center. She will guide participants through the essential, step-by-step techniques from folding paper (signatures) to simple stitching and finishing your chipboard cover. Walk away with a beautiful, unique and durable notebook you made yourself. Fee is $65 including a take-home tool kit. Register by calling 218-237-3722. Corey Medina & Brothers

Corey Medina & Brothers will play Saturday, January 17 at the Armory Arts & Events Center. Doors open at 6 p.m.; the show starts at 7. A favorite at 2nd Street Stage, Corey Medina & Brothers are a Native-led blues-rock band based in Bemidji. Their music speaks to resilience, belonging and getting through what life brings. Medina is a Native American blues artist from Shiprock, NM. “The Brothers” are Eric Sundeen on drums and Gary Broste on upright bass.

Reception for Jeremy Simonson

Jeremy Simonson will conduct a workshop on the first four artists from his long form project, "Heartland Portraits," from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, January 24 at the Armory Arts & Events Center. At 2 p.m. he will give a presentation about the photographs and video interviews of artists and culture bearers who live and create in the Heartland Lakes region.

Paint with Nate

Snow Sculpture Event

Celebrate the magic of winter at a Snow Sculpture Event Saturday, Feb. 14 in Depot Park, Park Rapids. Hosted by the City of Park Rapids and Park Rapids Arts and Culture Advisory Commission, this event invites up to eight teams to each transform a single large block of snow into a unique, creative sculpture. Whether you're experienced or just looking for a fun winter challenge, this is your chance to showcase your creativity.

The first eight teams to register will be selected, with two alternates as backups. So, don’t wait to sign up! Entry forms with some rules are available at City Hall. The deadline to enter is noon Friday, Feb. 6. Snow blocks will be ready for carving but plan to do a sculpture that can be completed in four hours or less. Judging will be at 2 p.m. with awards presented shortly after 2. Teams can consist of individuals or groups, including families, businesses, nonprofits or school organizations.

Depot Park is located at 210 3rd Street East, east of Hugo’s Family Marketplace.

Book Bingo for Kids

Celebrate I Love to Read Month with Book Bingo for Kids from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 17 at the Park Rapids Area Library. Prizes will be picture books, juvenile fiction and juvenile non-fiction.
