26th - Hubbard County Historical Society: Park Rapids History Trail

Rod Nordberg and Lu Ann Hurd-Lof will give a program on the Park Rapids History Trail when the Hubbard County Historical Society meets from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, October 26 at the Northwoods Bank Community Room. These programs are free and the public is invited to attend.

 

27th - Headwaters Center for Lifelong Learning: Fur Trade in Minnesota

American frontier historian Mark Sage will come in costume, bring props and videos and transport the audience to fur trading days for the Headwaters Center for Lifelong Learning program October 20. All HCLL programs are from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Park Rapids American Legion. The space is handicap accessible There is no admission charge.

 

27th - Debbie Center Concert at the Armory Arts & Events Center

Debbie Center will play nature inspired music and classical rock favorites in a free concert at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 27 at the Armory Arts & Events Center. No tickets are needed for this Kitchigami Regional Library sponsored event as part of Debbie's Itty Bitty tour.

 

31st - Alfred Hitchcock 's "Psycho" 7 p.m. at Park Theater

 

 

4th - Wire Bending Art 101

Did you know copper is good for house plants? Jody Ziemann will teach participants to create at least two hanging ornaments and several plant pokes using copper wire and beads. This class will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 4. Fee is $25. Register with Community Education by calling 218-237-6600 or at www.parkrapidscomed.com.

 

5th - Pottery Painting: Snack & Stash Bowl

Make a Snack & Stash Bowl in a class from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday,November 5. After the class, the projects return with instructor Karen Moyer, Leaf River Pottery, to be fired. Seven to 10 days later the projects, individually bagged, are returned to Community Ed. You will be notified by email when they have arrived and you can pick them up. 6th - Sesame Street and the Great Elephant Adventure

Sesame Street and the Great Elephant Adventure is a 55-minute screening of this season's premier of the PBS series "Nature." Elmo, Abby Cadabby and Nina travel to Kenya's Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to meet an orphaned baby elephant named Nyambeni that they adopted online. This screening and activity time will start at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 6 at the Park Rapids Area Library, sponsored by Kitchigami Regional Library, PBS Kids and Lakeland PBS.

 

7th - Holiday Mosaics with Mary at the Armory Arts and Events Center

Celebrate the season with a festive mosaic workshop led by returning instructor Mary. The workshop will be from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 7 in the Studios at the Armory. To sign up, go to www.parkrapidsarmory.org/wokshops-classes.

 

13th - The Art of Micromosaics

Micromosaics are intricate artworks made from thousands of tiny pieces of glass enamel, down as tesserae, carefully arranged to form highly detailed images. Instructor Kathy Sanders will guide participants to create a floral motif pendant. All materials will be provided and safety glasses, tile nippers and other supplies will be available. Fee is $65. 14th - 2nd Saturday STEM

The Park Rapids Area Library STEM program continues at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 14. The theme will be Leaf Impressions: Make a leaf impression, identify leaves and learn about leaf structure. This event is open to all ages, but participants 8 years old and younger need to be accompanied by an older participant or adult. The activity will be held in the large meeting room downstairs.

 

14th - Copper Enameling Workshop at the Armory Arts & Events Center

Back by popular demand, Cheryl Bannes will return for a holiday-themed Copper Enameling Workshop. Her first session sold out and participants embraced the chance to fuse glowing glass onto copper to create one-of-a-kind jewelry and small works of art. 14th - Park Rapids Area Community Band Fall Concert

The Park Rapids Area Community Band's Fall Concert will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, November 14 at the Area High School Auditorium. John Koopmann, trumpeter with the Minnesota Opera Orchestra, will featured guest artist. The concert is free; a free will offering will be accepted.

 

16th - "How the Birds Got Their Songs" at the Park Rapids Area Library

Guests Travis and Sam Zimmerman will be sharing their book, "How the Birds Got Their Songs," at 3:30 p.m. Monday, November 16 at the Park Rapids Area Library. The program will begin with the origin of the story, the importance of offering the story in a bilingual format (English / Ojibwemowin), and how the story was brought to life visually for readers. The event will include an introduction to Ojibwemowin, Ojibwe culture, reading the story, sharing art from the book, and allow for a questions and answers session. A free Creativity Kit with video instructions by Sam will be handed out at the event to take home to expand your own creativity!

 

19th - Art Bites: Wire Bending

19th - Open Mic Night at the Armory Arts & Events Center

19th - Heartland Concert Association: Tommy Ryman at the Area High School Auditorium

Comedian Tommy Ryman will perform for the Heartland Concert Association audience at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 19 at the Area High School Auditorium. Ryman was a semi-finalist on NBC's Last Comic Standing. His act can be described as absurdist and clever, masked behind a very likable and innocent demeanor. Ryman grew up in Minnesota, jamming on his clarinet for his new-age mom and kale-chip-making dad. He is the winner of Best of the Midwest at the prestigious Gilda's Laugh Fest. He performs at top clubs, colleges and festivals across the nation.

 

21st - Paint Like Picasso Workshop at the Armory Arts & Events Center

Sam Workman will lead the workshop: Paint Like Picasso: A Lesson in Cubism. Why look at something from one angle when you can see them all at once? 21st - Cyanotype Mixed Media Workshop at the Armory Arts& Events Center

Explore the art of cyanotype, a historic printmaking process that uses sunlight/UV lamps to create stunning Prussian blue prints. Dawn Rossbach will be the instructor. 21st - The Fat Cats

27th & 28th - "A Very Good Christmas Carol" at the Armory Arts & Events Center

After the tree lighting downtown Friday, November 27, head to the Armory Arts & Events Center for the Northern Light Opera Company production of "A Very Good Christmas Carol." Three ghosts, two actors and a helpful audience make for a fun and highly entertaining good show. A matinee performance will be given at   2 p.m. Saturday. Both are free and refreshments will be available.

 

28th - North-By-North Pole Film Festival at Park Theater

Choose from The Polar Express (2004) or National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989) November 28. Free matinees start at 2 p.m. at Park Theater.

4th & 6th - Park Rapids Classic Chorale Concerts

The Park Rapids Classic Chorale will present concerts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 4 and 3 p.m. Sunday, December 6 at Calvary Lutheran Church. The theme will be "From Noel to Hallelujah" with a variety of holiday pieces and ending with selections from The Messiah. Attendees will be invited to join in for the final chorale, the Hallelujah Chorus. The concerts are free; a free will offering will be accepted.

 

5th - Wire Ornaments Workshop at the Armory Arts & Events Center

Join metalsmith Cheryl Bannes for a festive wire ornament workshop where you'll create cheerful wire-and-bead ornaments to hang, gift or wear as a necklace. 12th - Holiday Open House at the Armory Arts and Events Center

Doors will open at 6 p.m. Saturday, December 12 for the free Holiday Open House at the Armory Arts and Events Center featuring The Mistletoe's and complimentary Tom & Jerrys (while supplies last). The band starts at 7 p.m.

 

12th & 13th - Long Lake Theater Presents "A Christmas Carol"

"A Christmas Carol" returns to the stage at Long Lake Theater in Hubbard at 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday, December 12 and 1 p.m. Sunday, December 13. Ebenezer Scrooge declines Christmas dinner with the family, opting to be alone on this frosty winter night. 31st - North-By-North Pole Film Festival Bonus Show at Park Theater

Wrap up 2026 at Park Theater and watch When Harry Met Sally (1989). Ring in the New Year at the same time as Harry and Sally. The show starts at exactly 10:30 p.m. and 28 seconds to ensure the on-screen countdown to the New Year syncs with ours in local time! This show is by paid general admission.
